A Must Watch !

Back after a loooooooooooong breeak !!

It's been a reallly looooooooooong time since I ventured into blogosphere (Nov'08 to be precise). But, having ventured, I never bothered to step any further for such a long time. I could rake up an array of reasons, nay excuses, for it.. But, I am just too lethargic (there you go :))to even contemplate about them at this point.

In effect, I've not been writing anything more worthwhile than some drab replies and sundry communication at my office for sometime now. It is only recently that I have started putting up some posts of my thoughts on the movies I've been watching, on FB (and I do watch quite a number for movies) and I found that some of them were indeed to the liking of friends who encouraged me to do more of it and perhaps, even start a blog with them.

So, here I am reviving this ancient blog of mine wherein I shall share my thoughts on the movies I get to watch, now & then. Mind you, I am neither technically qualified to be a reviewer nor am I an expert of any sort on movies. These are merely my thoughts on the movies I've watched and my only qualification is that movies have remained an enduring passion since my childhood.

Now that the disclaimer is done & dusted, I confess that I do watch a fairly good number of  movies each month. The range of these movies straddle several genres and languages, both Indian & Foreign. I enjoy watching all kinds of movies - good, bad and the not so good and the not so bad too... From 12 Angry Men to the home-made masala of  our own angry young man/men/women ... From superheroes of hollywood to the our own SUPERSTARs...

To begin with, I shall copy-paste my recent movie reviews from FB here and thereafter, shall keep adding with more posts as and when I watch anyhthing new.

My maiden post

So here I am .. finally .. making my first footmarks in blogger-land !! I begin with the reasoning of choosing this name for this blog !!

I've named this blog as Sens(e)peak .. It is an alliteration which is intended to convey two meanings. In one, it is short for Sen(thil)Speak. I prefer Sen (as in Amartya Sen and the like..) as my short name !! It has a nice "Bong" ring to it which I like !! Alas, much to my chagrin, of my pals seem to prefer calling me Sentee !! I've quit complaining about this after seeing the futility of my efforts, especially the fact that the more I try the more they seem to like it !! I find that quite ironical, for in most cases, I am anything but Sentee(imental) and prefer to keep a cool head over my shoulders !! Anyway, I've learnt to live with it and am even enjoying the irony therein !!

In another way, it stands for Sense Peak .. i.e., when Sen(thil) speaks it must be Sense at its peak !! (I can hear you chuckling .. Never mind !! Laugh your heart out !! I assure you that I, too, am beaming widely even as am typing this !!)

Anyway, I shall use this space for whatever thoughts, I wish to share with all of you. They may merely be my random ramble (as I so often do) or something which makes sense to me and hope to some of you too !! I leave you to be the judge as to which of my writings are mere rambles and which may carry some ounces of sense !!

One final thought before I close this first post of mine. I believe in B.F. Skinner's - a radical behaviouralist - (for the uninitiated, check him out at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B.F._Skinner)
(what most would feel is too radical) view that there is no such thing as an original thought !! Whatever one claims as his/her thought is merely a mish-mash of one/more thoughts that we come across in our lives. We are at best, playing the role of an improvised conduit in communicating these thoughts in some form. My mom's mixer cant claim that the delicious chutney which she made this morning as its own genius. Even my mom cant take full credit for its originality, for this is a part of the collective knowledge/wisdom - if you could call it so - that has been passed on to her by her elders and so on. At best, she is a repository of such knowledge (as we all are) and being a repository, can also make recalls - perfect/not-so-perfect (as we so often see) - of the knowledge stored therein. I say this, even at the risk of sounding a tad too cynical, to put across to you my stand that I shall not feel any sense of exclusive ownership to whatever thought(s) I might share in this space henceforth. Dont catch me wrong here !! I am fully assuming responsibility for the thoughts shared here, I am just shying away from claiming any feeling of property therein !!
